Zudem ist (in der Quantenmechanik) der genaue Ort eines Teilchens im Raum (bisher) nicht vorhersagbar, sondern nur die Wahrscheinlichkeit, an welchen Orten sich ein Teilchen aufhält. Die helleren Bereiche stellen hierzu lediglich eine höhere Wahrscheinlichkeit dar, wo das jeweilige Elektron (während der gesamten Schwingung, zusammen mit dem Kern) zu finden ist.
