==பெயர்க் காரணம்==

அயர்லாந்து நாட்டில் முன்சுடர் மாநிலத்தில் லிமெரிக் என்பது ஒரு சிறு நகரம். 18 ஆம் நூற்றாண்டில் பிரெஞ்சு போர் முடிந்து இந்த நகரத்திற்குத் திரும்பிய படை வீரர்கள் கூடி மகிழ்ந்து பாடுவார்கள். ஒவ்வொரு அடியையும் ஒவ்வொரு வீரர் பாடுவர். ஒருவர் ஒரு அடியைப் பாடியதும் மற்றொருவர் தொடர்ந்து பாடுவார். அதில் இறுதிச் சொல் ஒலி ஒற்றுமையுடன் இருக்கும். லிமெரிக் என்னும் ஊரில் தோன்றியதால் இந்தக் கவிதைக்கு லிமெரிக் எனப் பெயர் ஏற்பட்டது<ref>Loomis 1963, pp. 153–157.</ref><ref>{{cite web|url=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v5LNhn_LKo4|title=Siar sna 70idí 1973 Lios Tuathail - John B Keane, Limericks, Skinheads|work=YouTube|accessdate=6 October 2014}}</ref>.

==லிமெரிக்கின் அமைப்பு==

இந்தக் கவிதை ஐந்து அடிகளைக் கொண்டிருக்கும். முதலடியிலும் இரண்டாம் அடியிலும் கடைசி அடியிலும் உள்ள கடைசி சொற்கள்
